At the end of this course supervisors and managers will be able to understand the principles of conducting thorough workplace investigations, whilst also being equipped with skills to manage their investigations in the workplace.


By the end of the course participants should be able to:

  • Understand the purpose of effective workplace investigations within the legislative framework
  • Identify and apply the investigative strategies to plan and organise an effective workplace investigation
  • Plan and undertake witness interviews, being able to create evidential witness statements
  • Plan and prepare for interviews with employees under investigation
  • Conduct interviews, considering the PEACE framework for interviews, assisting the overall investigation and withstanding scrutiny
  • Be able to handle competing accounts
  • Handle evidence and material appropriately, considering disclosure
  • Be able to write investigation reports


This course will help managers who are required to undertake workplace investigations. It will give the skills required to be able to conduct investigations with competence and confidence, as well as an introduction to interviewing principles, whilst helping to withstand scrutiny and assist decision makers to make the most appropriate decisions, based upon facts.


The course is conducted in the workplace, at client sites for groups of 4 or more
